Document Restoration
Document restoration aims to improve the quality and readability of damaged or degraded documents using computational methods. Current research focuses on developing generalist models capable of handling multiple restoration tasks simultaneously, such as dewarping, deshadowing, and inpainting, often employing techniques like transformer networks and Fourier transforms to address various types of image corruption. These advancements are significant for improving the accessibility of historical archives and enhancing the efficiency of document processing in various applications, including automated document analysis and information extraction.
