Dual Pixel

Dual-pixel (DP) sensors, capturing two slightly offset views within a single image, offer a compact and efficient approach to depth sensing and related computer vision tasks. Current research focuses on improving disparity estimation accuracy from DP data, often employing techniques like knowledge distillation from more complex stereo systems or incorporating coded apertures to mitigate defocus blur limitations. These advancements enable applications ranging from 3D scene reconstruction and autonomous driving to improved image processing tasks such as raindrop removal and scene text super-resolution, ultimately leading to more robust and efficient vision systems.
