Efficient Continual Learning
Efficient continual learning (ECL) aims to enable artificial intelligence models to learn new tasks sequentially without forgetting previously acquired knowledge, a significant challenge in current AI systems. Research focuses on developing parameter-efficient methods, such as using adapters, prompt tuning, or sparsity-inducing techniques, often within the context of specific model architectures like deep state-space models or spiking neural networks. These advancements are crucial for creating more robust, adaptable, and resource-efficient AI systems applicable to resource-constrained environments like edge devices and for addressing the limitations of traditional machine learning approaches in dynamic real-world settings.
