Ejection Fraction
Ejection fraction (EF), the percentage of blood pumped out of the heart with each contraction, is a crucial metric for assessing cardiac function and diagnosing heart failure. Current research focuses on automating EF measurement from echocardiograms and other medical images using deep learning models, including convolutional neural networks, vision transformers, and graph neural networks, often incorporating techniques like contrastive learning and knowledge distillation to improve accuracy and efficiency. These advancements aim to reduce the time and expertise required for EF assessment, leading to faster diagnoses, improved patient care, and more efficient use of healthcare resources.
