Election Manipulation
Election manipulation encompasses the strategic interference with electoral processes to influence outcomes, a critical issue for democratic integrity. Current research focuses on understanding the computational complexity of various manipulation techniques, including bribery, strategic voting, and the spread of misinformation through social networks, often employing models like single-peaked preferences and algorithms such as weighted matching and support vector machines for anomaly detection. This research aims to develop methods for detecting and mitigating manipulation, improving the fairness and robustness of elections, and informing policy decisions regarding electoral regulations and technological safeguards.
