Engineering Education
Engineering education is undergoing a transformation driven by the integration of artificial intelligence, particularly large language models (LLMs) like GPT-3.5 and GPT-4. Current research focuses on evaluating LLMs' capabilities in various aspects of engineering education, from assessing conceptual understanding in mechanics to providing personalized learning support and automating tasks like scoring summaries. This work aims to understand both the benefits and limitations of AI in enhancing teaching and learning, ultimately seeking to improve student outcomes and the efficiency of engineering pedagogy. The findings are informing the development of AI-assisted tools and prompting discussions about ethical considerations and the future of assessment in engineering disciplines.
