English Vietnamese Speech Translation

English-Vietnamese speech translation research aims to develop accurate and efficient systems for converting spoken English into written or spoken Vietnamese, and vice versa. Current efforts focus on improving model performance using transformer-based architectures, often incorporating techniques like BERT and fine-tuning on large, domain-specific datasets (including newly created medical and general corpora). This field is significant due to the growing need for cross-lingual communication and the potential to bridge the language gap in various applications, such as healthcare and education, particularly given the limited resources currently available for Vietnamese NLP tasks.
