Entorhinal Hippocampal
Entorhinal-hippocampal research focuses on understanding how these brain regions collaboratively create and utilize cognitive maps, crucial for spatial navigation and memory. Current investigations employ neural network models, including successor representations and recurrent networks, to simulate grid cell activity and explore how these networks bind multi-modal information (e.g., visual and linguistic) to form robust, context-aware representations. This work aims to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of memory encoding and retrieval, potentially informing the development of more sophisticated AI systems with improved contextual understanding and memory capabilities.
