Epistemic Planning
Epistemic planning focuses on developing algorithms that allow agents, particularly in multi-robot systems, to plan actions while explicitly reasoning about their own knowledge and the knowledge of others. Current research emphasizes efficient algorithms, often employing dynamic epistemic logic (DEL) and techniques like bounded depth reasoning or possibility-based representations to address the computational complexity inherent in modeling higher-order knowledge. This work is crucial for enabling robust and adaptable behavior in complex, uncertain environments, with applications ranging from multi-robot coordination in challenging scenarios (like search and rescue) to improved decision-making in distributed systems.
