Event Based Sensor
Event-based sensors, unlike traditional cameras, record changes in light intensity rather than complete images, offering advantages in power efficiency, high dynamic range, and motion blur reduction. Current research focuses on developing robust algorithms and model architectures, such as Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) and hybrid SNN-ANN approaches, to process the asynchronous data streams generated by these sensors for applications like pose estimation, activity recognition, and object detection. This research is significant because it addresses limitations of traditional sensing in challenging environments and enables new possibilities in areas such as robotics, satellite navigation, and smart home technologies.
