Event Horizon Telescope
The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) is a network of radio telescopes aiming to image supermassive black holes by observing their event horizons. Current research focuses on improving image reconstruction techniques, employing deep generative models and Bayesian inference to mitigate biases introduced by assumptions about the black hole's structure and to handle the limited observational data. These advancements leverage machine learning, including autoencoders and neural networks, to enhance image quality, speed up simulations, and enable more sophisticated analyses like 3D emission tomography. The EHT's observations and associated methodological developments are revolutionizing our understanding of black hole physics and accretion processes.
