Face Familiarity Perception
Face familiarity perception research investigates how the brain recognizes and processes familiar faces, aiming to understand the underlying neural mechanisms and develop computational models that mimic this ability. Current research focuses on developing generalist models capable of handling diverse face-related tasks (e.g., expression recognition, age estimation) using architectures like single-encoder dual-decoder networks and incorporating attention mechanisms for efficient feature selection. These advancements are significant for improving applications like facial recognition systems and virtual reality interactions, while also providing insights into the neural basis of social cognition.
