Fact Checker
Fact-checking research aims to automate the process of verifying information accuracy, particularly in combating the rapid spread of misinformation online. Current efforts focus on developing AI models, often leveraging large language models (LLMs) and vision-language models (VLMs), to identify and assess claims across various modalities (text, images, video), generate relevant questions for verification, and retrieve previously debunked narratives. This research is crucial for mitigating the societal harms caused by misinformation, assisting human fact-checkers in prioritizing their efforts, and improving the speed and scalability of fact-checking processes.
