Flexible Production
Flexible production aims to create adaptable manufacturing systems capable of responding quickly to fluctuating demands and diverse product requirements. Current research emphasizes integrating artificial intelligence, particularly large language models and reinforcement learning, with digital twins and robotic systems to achieve autonomous planning and control, often using ontology-based representations of machine capabilities and skills. This work is driven by the need for increased efficiency, sustainability (through optimized energy consumption), and reduced reliance on human programming expertise, ultimately impacting both industrial automation and the broader field of AI planning.
