Focal Plane

Focal plane arrays (FPAs) are sensor systems capturing images by simultaneously measuring light across a grid of detectors. Current research focuses on improving FPA efficiency and capabilities, including developing compressed sensing algorithms to reduce data volume and power consumption for high-speed imaging, and employing on-chip processing for real-time image analysis in applications like visual inertial odometry. Advanced calibration techniques, such as deep learning-based methods, are being explored to correct for system imperfections and enhance image reconstruction quality in compressive imaging systems. These advancements are driving progress in various fields, from high-speed event detection to mobile robotics and high-resolution imaging with cost-effective hardware.
