Food Computing
Food computing is an emerging interdisciplinary field aiming to leverage computational methods to improve various aspects of food-related processes, from recipe generation and nutritional optimization to efficient food delivery and personalized dietary recommendations. Current research heavily utilizes large language models (LLMs) and computer vision techniques, often integrated into multimodal systems, to analyze recipes, images, and nutritional data, with a focus on tasks like ingredient substitution, recipe generation from images, and accurate food entity recognition. This work has significant implications for improving public health through better dietary choices, optimizing food supply chains, and enhancing the overall efficiency and fairness of food-related services.
