Formation Resistivity

Formation resistivity, the ability of subsurface formations to resist electrical current flow, is crucial for characterizing geological structures and resources like oil, gas, and geothermal energy. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and robustness of resistivity estimations, particularly in challenging environments like cased boreholes, using advanced techniques such as deep learning models (including convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks like LSTMs, and UNets). These models are being developed to mitigate noise interference and improve the interpretation of data from various sources, including well logging, magnetotellurics, and synthetic aperture radar, leading to more reliable subsurface imaging and resource assessment.
