Formula Student Driverless is a collegiate engineering competition challenging teams to design and build autonomous race cars. Current research focuses heavily on robust perception systems using LiDAR and cameras, coupled with advanced algorithms like graph search for lane detection and deep reinforcement learning for path planning and control. These efforts contribute to advancements in autonomous vehicle technology by providing a real-world testbed for developing and validating perception, mapping, and control algorithms under high-speed, dynamic conditions, pushing the boundaries of performance and reliability.
