Foundation Language Model

Foundation Language Models (FLMs) are large neural networks trained on massive text datasets to perform a wide range of natural language processing tasks. Current research emphasizes improving FLM interpretability, developing efficient architectures for diverse applications (including on-device deployment), and addressing challenges like catastrophic forgetting in continual learning scenarios. These models are significantly impacting various fields by enabling advancements in machine translation, text summarization, and knowledge understanding across domains, including specialized areas like geoscience.
