Foundational Ontology
Foundational ontologies aim to create a common, structured representation of fundamental concepts and relationships in reality, facilitating knowledge integration and interoperability across diverse domains. Current research focuses on developing and refining these ontologies using various approaches, including modeling quantities of matter, representing processes and procedures, and leveraging large language models to capture everyday knowledge. This work is crucial for improving data management, enabling multi-scale analysis in scientific fields, and enhancing the capabilities of artificial intelligence systems through improved knowledge representation and reasoning.
