Fovea Localization
Fovea localization, the precise identification of the fovea centralis in retinal images, is crucial for diagnosing and monitoring various eye diseases. Current research emphasizes developing robust deep learning models, often employing transformer architectures or multi-task learning frameworks that integrate information from surrounding retinal structures like blood vessels and the optic disc, to improve accuracy and handle variations in image quality and pathology. These advancements are improving the efficiency and accuracy of automated retinal image analysis, leading to better diagnostic tools and potentially facilitating earlier and more effective interventions for vision-threatening conditions.
