Fractional Flow Reserve
Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) measures the pressure drop across a coronary artery stenosis, indicating the functional significance of the blockage. Current research focuses on developing non-invasive methods to estimate FFR, primarily using computed tomography angiography (CTA) data and deep learning models, including convolutional neural networks and transformers, to reduce the need for invasive procedures. These models aim to predict not only a single FFR value but also the FFR profile along the artery, providing more detailed information about the stenosis location and severity. This work holds significant promise for improving the diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease by offering faster, cheaper, and less invasive assessment methods.
