Free Viewpoint

Free-viewpoint video (FVV) technology aims to create realistic, interactive 3D video experiences allowing viewers to explore scenes from any angle. Current research focuses on improving the efficiency and realism of FVV generation, employing neural radiance fields (NeRFs) and related architectures like Gaussian splatting and tri-plane representations, often incorporating techniques like attention mechanisms and temporal modeling to handle dynamic scenes and reduce computational costs. These advancements are significant for applications in virtual and augmented reality, telepresence, and animation, promising more immersive and interactive multimedia experiences.
