Function Class
Function classes, sets of mathematical functions with shared properties, are increasingly used to investigate the inner workings of machine learning models, particularly large language models (LLMs) and their ability to perform in-context learning. Current research focuses on using function classes (e.g., linear, polynomial, and neural network functions) to analyze model behavior, understand the impact of training strategies like multi-task learning, and evaluate fairness in applications such as healthcare. This research is crucial for improving model interpretability, robustness, and generalization capabilities, ultimately leading to more reliable and equitable AI systems across various domains.
