Game Description Language

Game description languages (GDLs) aim to create a standardized way to represent the rules of diverse games, enabling automated game playing and generation. Current research focuses on using large language models and evolutionary algorithms to generate novel game rules and levels, often leveraging existing GDLs like Ludii which can represent a wide range of game types, including those with imperfect information. This work improves the efficiency of game playing algorithms and opens avenues for automated game design, contributing to both the fields of artificial intelligence and game studies.
