Gender Stereotype
Gender stereotypes, pervasive societal biases associating traits and roles with specific genders, are increasingly being investigated for their presence and impact within artificial intelligence systems. Current research focuses on identifying and mitigating these biases in various AI models, including large language models (LLMs), machine translation systems, and vision-language models, often employing techniques like counterfactual data augmentation and bias detection algorithms. This work is crucial for ensuring fairness and equity in AI applications, as the perpetuation of gender stereotypes through AI can reinforce harmful societal norms and limit opportunities for individuals.
