Geometric Acoustic
Geometric acoustics (GA) models the propagation of sound as rays, enabling efficient simulation of acoustic environments for various applications. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and speed of GA-based simulations, particularly for complex geometries and materials, often employing ray tracing algorithms and neural network approaches to approximate or augment traditional methods. These advancements are driving progress in fields like virtual and augmented reality, sound event detection and localization, and the design of acoustic devices, by providing realistic and computationally feasible acoustic simulations for training and testing algorithms.
