Goal Oriented Semantic Communication
Goal-oriented semantic communication aims to optimize data transmission for achieving specific tasks, moving beyond simple accuracy metrics to prioritize effectiveness and efficiency. Current research focuses on developing common languages and representations, often leveraging hierarchical belief systems and reinforcement learning (including curriculum learning) to enable efficient communication between devices with diverse internal representations. This approach addresses the challenge of semantic mismatches in complex systems, improving the performance of AI tasks within network constraints and paving the way for more intelligent and resource-efficient wireless networks.
