Harmonized System

The Harmonized System (HS) is an internationally standardized system for classifying traded products, crucial for customs declarations and international trade. Current research focuses on automating HS code assignment using machine learning, particularly employing multimodal approaches that integrate text and image data from e-commerce platforms and customs declarations, along with ensemble methods combining various deep learning models like transformers and knowledge graphs. These advancements aim to improve the efficiency and accuracy of customs processes, reducing the burden on customs officials and facilitating smoother international trade.
