Head Orientation Estimation
Head orientation estimation aims to determine the direction a person's head is facing, a crucial task with applications in human-computer interaction, behavioral analysis, and surveillance. Current research focuses on developing robust methods using diverse data sources, including audio signals from distributed microphones, low-resolution point clouds from LiDAR sensors, and images processed by deep neural networks, often employing multi-task learning architectures to improve accuracy and efficiency. These advancements enable more accurate and privacy-preserving estimations compared to traditional camera-based approaches, impacting fields ranging from assistive technologies to the study of social interaction.
