Head Reenactment

Head reenactment focuses on realistically transferring facial expressions from a driving video onto a target person's head, creating a highly expressive and view-consistent 3D representation. Current research emphasizes developing 3D-aware methods using volumetric neural networks and transformer architectures to achieve accurate disentanglement of identity and expression, overcoming limitations of previous 2D approaches. This work is driven by applications in virtual and augmented reality, telepresence systems, and animation, with recent datasets like AnimeCeleb furthering progress in cross-domain reenactment. The resulting advancements improve the realism and expressiveness of digital avatars and virtual interactions.
