Heterogeneous Swarm
Heterogeneous swarms, composed of robots with diverse capabilities, are being actively researched to achieve complex tasks beyond the scope of homogeneous swarms. Current research focuses on developing control algorithms, such as those based on nervous system models or adaptive grouping strategies, to manage the interaction and coordination of these diverse agents, often addressing challenges in localization, trajectory planning, and task allocation. This research is significant because it enables the creation of more robust, adaptable, and efficient robotic systems for applications ranging from environmental monitoring and search and rescue to industrial automation and infrastructure inspection. The development of specialized simulation platforms and the exploration of human-swarm interaction are also key areas of investigation.
