High Definition Map Construction

High-definition (HD) map construction aims to create precise, real-time representations of the driving environment for autonomous vehicles, focusing on accurate and efficient online generation of vectorized maps. Current research emphasizes improving the robustness and generalization of these maps using various techniques, including transformer-based architectures (like MapTR and its variants) that leverage temporal information and incorporate priors from sources such as standard definition maps or OpenStreetMap data. This work is crucial for advancing autonomous driving safety and reliability by providing vehicles with a detailed and continuously updated understanding of their surroundings.
