High Definition Map Generation
High-definition (HD) map generation aims to automatically create precise, detailed maps of the environment for autonomous driving, reducing the high cost of manual map creation and maintenance. Current research focuses on leveraging multiple data sources (LiDAR, cameras, GPS, fleet vehicle data) and employing various techniques, including neural networks (e.g., autoencoders, transformers), expectation-maximization algorithms, and multi-view consistency methods, to generate complete and accurate maps. These advancements are crucial for improving the reliability and scalability of autonomous driving systems, enabling safer and more efficient navigation.
