Higher Order Responsibility
Higher-order responsibility examines the attribution of accountability in complex systems, particularly those involving AI, where multiple actors and factors contribute to outcomes. Current research focuses on developing computational frameworks for assigning responsibility, exploring different types of responsibility (causal, moral, legal), and adapting existing planning algorithms (like those based on temporal logic) to anticipate and manage responsibility in multi-agent systems. This work is crucial for addressing ethical and legal challenges arising from AI-driven incidents and for designing more robust and accountable AI systems across various applications, from autonomous vehicles to healthcare.
