Holonomic Ground Robot Platform
Holonomic ground robots, capable of moving in any direction instantaneously without constraints on orientation, are a focus of robotics research aiming to improve path planning and multi-robot coordination. Current research emphasizes efficient algorithms like variations of RRT and visibility graphs to generate optimal or near-optimal trajectories, addressing challenges posed by non-holonomic constraints in real-world vehicles through techniques such as incorporating vehicle dynamics models (e.g., Dubins car) into path planning. These advancements are significant for improving the autonomy and performance of multi-robot systems in diverse applications, from warehouse automation to search and rescue operations.
