Human Bias
Human bias, a systematic deviation from rational judgment, significantly impacts the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) systems. Current research focuses on identifying and mitigating biases in large language models (LLMs) and other AI architectures, particularly concerning gender, race, and ability, using techniques like counterfactual data augmentation and parameter-efficient fine-tuning. Understanding and addressing these biases is crucial for ensuring fairness, equity, and trustworthiness in AI systems across various applications, from hiring processes to medical diagnosis. The field is actively developing methods to both detect and reduce the propagation of human biases into AI, improving both the reliability and ethical implications of AI technologies.
