Human Papillomavirus
Human papillomavirus (HPV) research currently focuses on improving detection and vaccination uptake. This involves developing advanced computer vision models, leveraging both synthetic and real-world image data (including Pap smears and H&E stained tissue samples), and employing machine learning techniques like self-supervised learning and multiple instance learning to analyze these images efficiently, even in low-resource settings. Furthermore, natural language processing is being used to analyze social media sentiment regarding HPV vaccination, aiming to understand and counter misinformation campaigns. These efforts aim to improve early diagnosis of HPV-related cancers and increase vaccination rates, ultimately reducing the global burden of HPV-associated diseases.
