Human Performance
Research on human performance currently focuses on understanding how human capabilities compare to and interact with artificial intelligence, particularly large language models (LLMs). Key areas of investigation include evaluating human performance on complex tasks (reasoning, spatial orientation, problem-solving) and comparing it to LLMs using benchmarks and novel metrics, exploring the impact of factors like stress and interruptions on both human and AI performance, and investigating how AI assistance can augment human abilities. This research is crucial for developing effective human-AI collaborations, improving AI system design, and informing the design of human-computer interfaces in various applications, from aviation safety to education.
