Current efforts concentrate on improving the realism of generated portraits, including mitigating the "uncanny valley" effect, and achieving greater control over attributes like pose, expression, and lighting through models such as GANs, StyleGANs, and neural radiance fields. This research is significant for applications in various fields, including digital art, virtual avatars, and forensic science, by enabling more efficient and effective image generation and manipulation.
