Human Touch
Research on human touch explores how tactile information is perceived, processed, and utilized by both humans and robots, aiming to understand its role in interaction and manipulation. Current efforts focus on developing advanced tactile sensors, integrating touch data with other modalities (vision, language) using models like transformers and neural networks, and applying these advancements to robotics, particularly in object manipulation and human-robot interaction. This research is significant for improving robotic dexterity, creating more natural and intuitive human-robot interfaces, and furthering our understanding of the complex interplay between touch and other senses in perception and cognition.
