Image Based Rendering
Image-based rendering (IBR) aims to synthesize novel views of a scene from a set of input images, reconstructing 3D information implicitly or explicitly. Current research focuses on improving the efficiency and quality of IBR, particularly using neural radiance fields (NeRFs) and related architectures, often incorporating techniques like point-based rendering, scene flow estimation, and content-aware warping to address challenges such as occlusions, geometric discontinuities, and sparse input views. These advancements are driving progress in applications ranging from virtual and augmented reality to 3D modeling and digital art creation, improving the realism and efficiency of generating novel perspectives from existing image data.
