Image Defocus
Image defocus, the blurring of an image due to a shallow depth of field or other factors, is a significant challenge in computer vision, with research focusing on accurately estimating depth from defocus blur and restoring sharp images from blurry ones. Current approaches leverage deep learning models, often employing convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and increasingly incorporating transformers, to address these problems, with a particular emphasis on handling misaligned training data and camera-specific variations. These advancements have implications for various applications, including 3D reconstruction, microscopy image enhancement, and improving the quality of smartphone photography through advanced defocus control.
