Immersive Environment
Immersive environments, encompassing virtual and augmented reality, aim to create realistic and engaging experiences by simulating or augmenting users' perceptions of their surroundings. Current research focuses on improving visual fidelity through techniques like foveated rendering and multi-tasking perceptual models that efficiently combine multiple image enhancement processes in a single step, as well as on generating immersive worlds from 2D sources and enhancing user interaction through improved collaboration tools and force feedback in training scenarios. These advancements are significant for various applications, including robotics, engineering design, and entertainment, by enabling more effective training, collaboration, and user engagement in virtual and augmented settings.
