Implicit Target Span
Implicit target span identification focuses on detecting the targets of implicitly expressed sentiments or harmful content, a crucial step in mitigating online hate speech and improving information extraction from unstructured text. Current research emphasizes developing robust models, often based on span-level classification and incorporating techniques like contextualized word embeddings and attention mechanisms, to accurately identify these targets even when not explicitly named. This work is significant for enhancing the safety and ethical use of large language models in scientific research and various applications, improving the accuracy of information extraction and hate speech detection systems.
