Indirect Reciprocity
Indirect reciprocity, the concept that cooperation can evolve through reputation-based interactions, is a central theme in understanding the emergence of altruistic behavior in social systems. Current research focuses on modeling indirect reciprocity in diverse contexts, including heterogeneous populations, using techniques like evolutionary game theory and reinforcement learning, and exploring its manifestation in artificial intelligence systems like Large Language Models. This research aims to clarify the conditions under which cooperation thrives and to understand the interplay between individual behavior, social norms, and collective outcomes, with implications for both social sciences and the design of more ethical and cooperative AI.
