Indirect Request
Indirect requests, where a user's intention is implied rather than explicitly stated (e.g., "It's cold" instead of "Please turn up the heat"), are a significant area of research in human-computer interaction and natural language processing. Current work focuses on improving models' ability to understand and respond appropriately to such requests, often employing large language models (LLMs) and multimodal approaches that integrate speech and text data, along with techniques to enhance feature extraction and model robustness. This research is crucial for developing more natural and intuitive human-computer interactions, particularly in virtual assistants and other applications requiring nuanced understanding of user intent.
