Indoor Exploration
Indoor exploration research focuses on enabling robots, particularly aerial drones, to autonomously map and navigate unknown indoor spaces, often lacking GPS signals. Current efforts concentrate on improving Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) techniques, incorporating deep reinforcement learning for adaptive control and multi-agent coordination, and leveraging predicted maps and information gain calculations to optimize exploration strategies. These advancements are crucial for applications like search and rescue, infrastructure inspection, and delivery services in GPS-denied environments, improving efficiency and safety in challenging indoor settings.
