Infrared Imaging
Infrared (IR) imaging leverages the thermal radiation emitted by objects to capture images, offering unique capabilities beyond visible light, such as low-light operation and material differentiation. Current research focuses on improving image quality and analysis through advanced deep learning models, including transformers and neural radiance fields (NeRFs), as well as established techniques like support vector machines and random forests for classification tasks. These advancements are driving applications in diverse fields, from medical diagnostics (e.g., breast cancer detection) and industrial monitoring (e.g., ethylene leak detection) to robotics and 3D scene reconstruction, highlighting the growing importance of IR imaging in various scientific and practical domains.
