Inland Waterway
Inland waterway management aims to optimize the efficiency and safety of vessel traffic, primarily focusing on accurate prediction of vessel trajectories and efficient monitoring of barge traffic and cargo flow. Current research leverages machine learning, employing models like transformers, Gaussian Mixture Models, and various deep learning architectures (e.g., LSTMs, YOLO) to analyze diverse data sources including AIS, video imagery, and discharge measurements. These advancements improve vessel traffic surveillance, enhance autonomous navigation safety, and enable more effective planning and resource allocation for inland waterway transportation.
